Cancellation Policy – applicable to “High Season” Bookings. Does not apply to camping bookings.

In the event we are unable to replace a cancelled booking the following charges apply:

• If cancelled within 30 days of arrival 50% of the total cost of the booking may be charged. 

• If cancelled within 14 days of arrival, 100% of the total cost of the booking may be charged

"High Season" is summer school holidays, Easter, and Labour Weekend.

 

Bookings will be confirmed on receipt of payment in full

Family bookings for Christmas have priority until 31 October

Any ‘Friend of Family’ staying must have a family member who has responsibility for their stay

Our Expectations of Guests using the TH Hayes Property

Please understand that this property is a treasured family place and not a serviced motel. We ask those who stay on the property to honour our ancestors, family members and the trust we place in those we share it with as you enjoy your stay.

As guests at our special family place we request the following:

• RESPECT FOR OUR COMMUNITY:  respect for and protection of the TH Hayes Estate at Tauranga Bay as our family heritage

• REMOVE ALL RUBBISH from the property. BLUE prepaid rubbish bags, from the Kaeo Four Square, can be left at the Whangaroa or White Hills transfer stations.

• Far North District Council REQUIRE DOGS TO BE ON A LEASH on the beach and sandspit. Pet cats and dogs need to be under control in the paddock and camping areas, otherwise on a leash.

• MAKE SURE THE PADDOCK IS A SAFE FAMILY ENVIRONMENT; careful use of vehicles, showing consideration for others when playing loud music and not using language that might be considered offensive by some

• CONSERVATION OF WATER, ESPECIALLY OVER THE SUMMER PERIOD. The water catchment and storage system is interdependent between properties. Please DO NOT MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS.   

• BE AWARE OF FIRE HAZARDS: No fires, no fireworks & no fish smokers

  • There is a Total Fire Ban on the property and beach front during the summer season​

  • During winter, small fires may be lit below the high tide mark but ensure they are distant from grass bank and houses and light them only in the event of an offshore wind

• ENSURE RESPONSIBLE USE OF THE DINGHY/KAYAKS: these are available for use when renting Grandpa’s house. It is your responsibility to ensure they are left secured above the high tide line at all times when not in use and put away on your departure.

• KEEP GATES CLOSED; Gates, especially the beach and road access, must be kept closed to reinforce that the paddock and hill are private property.

CARE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT:

*The TH Hayes family has a commitment to ensuring that all visitors are aware of the presence of endangered and nesting birds on the sandspit and beach, and also in the paddock and estuary in front of the houses. The beaches and sandspit at Tauranga Bay are among the few places where Dotterels are known to breed. They forage along the shoreline and in the paddock, and until the chicks are fledged they have little protection from natural predators much less dogs, cats, tractors, motorbikes, quad bikes or 4WD vehicles.

PLEASE NOTE:

• The District Council and DOC requirement is for all DOGS on the sandspit and beach to be on a leash

• Stoat, rat and cat traps are set and maintained by the family, the local community association and the Mahinepua Radar Hill Landcare group

• Visitors should be careful at all times not to leave food scraps that could attract vermin

• We recommend not taking your VEHICLES on the beach - the tide often rises before help can come. Maximum speed on the beach is 30kph
